Questions about the launch matrix

Answers to common questions about our orchestration grid methodology, services, process, and Halifax studio.

Is LaunchMatrix related to the movie "Matrix" or hacking?

No — though we appreciate the question, and it is invariably the first one we hear. LaunchMatrix has nothing to do with Neo, red pills, or simulated reality. The name describes what we actually do: build a launch matrix — a structured grid where campaign channels, audience segments, creative assets, and go-live dates intersect in one orchestration framework.

The word "matrix" in mathematics and project management means a grid of rows and columns where each cell holds defined information. That is exactly our model. Matrix rows are audience segments. Channel cells are media touchpoints. Asset lanes are the creative deliverables flowing through each cell. Go-live checkpoints are the dates when each cell must be ready. If it helps, think spreadsheet architecture for campaigns — not Keanu Reeves dodging bullets in slow motion.

We chose the name because "launch matrix" communicates the product instantly to marketing directors and founders who are tired of juggling disconnected channel plans. The "Launch" prefix keeps us grounded in campaign execution, not abstract strategy decks. So no leather trench coats required — just a clear timeline matrix and a well-built deployment grid.

What exactly is a launch matrix?

A launch matrix is a visual and operational framework that maps every element of a campaign launch onto a single grid. Rows typically represent audience segments or market tiers. Columns represent channel cells — paid social, search, email, PR, landing pages, partner co-marketing, and so on. Each intersection defines an asset lane with specific deliverables, owners, deadlines, and success metrics.

Unlike a traditional marketing plan document that lists activities sequentially, the launch matrix shows dependencies across the entire orchestration grid simultaneously. You can see at a glance which channel slots depend on which asset lanes, where the launch corridor narrows, and which go-live checkpoints must pass before the next phase of the launch sequence begins.

How is a launch matrix different from a project plan or Gantt chart?

Project plans and Gantt charts track tasks over time — they are timeline-first tools. A launch matrix is channel-and-audience-first. It answers "what goes where, for whom, and when" in one view rather than burying channel strategy inside task lists. The timeline matrix is derived from the launch matrix, not the other way around.

Most teams already have a Gantt chart somewhere. The problem is marketing, product, PR, and sales each maintain their own. LaunchMatrix builds one orchestration grid that replaces those competing timelines with a single launch manifest the entire organisation shares.

What happens during a launch matrix session?

A launch matrix session is a ninety-minute working workshop — in our Halifax studio at 1800 Argyle Street or via video conference. We ask about your campaign goals, target audiences, existing channel plans, timeline constraints, and team structure. Then we begin mapping your campaign on the orchestration grid: defining matrix rows, populating channel cells, identifying asset lanes, and sketching the launch sequence.

You leave with a preliminary launch matrix outline and a recommended scope for full engagement. There is no obligation to proceed. The session itself is valuable even if you implement the deployment grid independently.

Do you work with companies outside Atlantic Canada?

Yes. While we are rooted in Halifax and proud of our Nova Scotia base, we work with clients across Canada and internationally. Launch matrix workshops run effectively via video conference, and our deployment grid management service operates remotely with daily matrix sync calls. Several of our case examples involve multi-province and multi-market launch corridors.

We do believe there is value in visiting our Argyle Street studio for the initial launch matrix build — the workshop room is designed for collaborative grid sessions — but it is not required for every engagement.

What industries do you specialise in?

Our orchestration grid methodology is industry-agnostic — the launch matrix framework adapts to any campaign with multiple channels and stakeholders. That said, we have deep experience with B2B SaaS product launches, regional retail seasonal campaigns, healthcare awareness programmes, fintech market expansion, and professional services brand refreshes.

What matters more than industry is campaign complexity. If your launch involves more than five channel slots, multiple internal teams, and a fixed go-live date, you likely need a structured deployment grid.

How much does a launch matrix engagement cost?

Pricing depends on the scope of your orchestration grid — number of channel cells, asset lanes, markets, and whether you need full deployment grid management or just the launch matrix design. Launch matrix sessions start as a standalone discovery workshop. Full engagements are quoted after the session when we understand your launch sequence requirements.

We provide transparent proposals with line-item scope for each service. We do not lock clients into long-term retainers unless ongoing matrix sync and deployment grid management genuinely serve your needs.

Do we keep the launch manifest after the engagement?

Absolutely. Every client receives full ownership of their launch matrix documentation, timeline matrix, deployment grid templates, and launch manifest. We train your team to maintain and update the orchestration grid for future campaigns. Our goal is to build capability inside your organisation, not create dependency on our agency.

Marketing results depend on industry, budget, creative execution, and market conditions. We do not guarantee specific revenue, conversion rates, lead volumes, or ROI. Case examples are illustrative and anonymised.
